b)      Link each term you have chosen from question a) and link to a specific work. Name the work, the precise location and the instrument or voice to which it relates.                                                                                              (4 marks)

c)      Describe the features that make Sing we at Pleasure by Weelkes a typical example of an English ballett.                                                             (8 marks)

d)      Discuss the importance and the differences in approach to word setting in secular vocal music. Refer to specific works in your answer. (14 marks)

Remember the What; Where; How and Why to your answer to c) and d). You can use bullet points but try to disguise them by forming sentences and relevant paragraphs.

Each point is worth a mark and in question d) you need to show more depth to your answer to gain the extra credit. In question d) above don’t just discuss the different ways of word setting – look at the reasons behind it, both stylistically and the interpretation of meaning. Give reference points!
